Transition.

The transition between Spring and Summer here in the PNW usually equals rain. Not surprising, I know. My sister likes to call it Junuary! It's so true.

Although I haven't blogged much lately, nor posted a LOT of new merch on my etsy site... I'll give you a taste of what I've been doing and some of my new creations...

Sunday, May 29th. The Port Gamble Farmers Market:
Lots of rain, not very many people, several bloody mary's.

Commission work for a school teacher, from her class.
A 3rd grade class (23 students) commissioned me to create a bracelet for them to give their teacher as an end of the year present. I stamped each child's' name into the metal charm, added lots of purple beads (the teachers favorite color), and embossed a piece of sea glass with a heart. This is such an awesome design and could transcend into a great gift for coaches, Sunday school teachers, and any group leader. I absolutely loved doing it!
Commission work for 5 coaches.
Each bracelet has handpicked sea glass with an embossed image, leather, and a waxed linen pull closure. These bracelets are so great! It's a new design that I recently released, and I've gotten great feedback so far. I have some images that I will be posting later on my etsy page.

Saturday, June 12th. Kingston Farmers Market:
Lots of Sun, lots of friends! This photo was taken by Cameron Karsten Photography. Please check out his blog and website. He is incredibly talented. Thanks for the photos Cameron!

Just a little something that I made for my dad. Happy Father's Day!

just the beginning...

Oh my sakes! I've been striving to be a full time jewelry artist & I'm finally making it my number one priority! Well, it's always been my number one priority in my head... and now I'm putting it into real time! ha ha! It's so thrilling! This is my first blog entry and I don't have a whole lot to say. I can merely catch y'all up on who I am and what I do. Let's start this so that my future entries will be super cool updates and event invites!!! Thanks for your support!

I take this time to apologize for my upcoming grammar oopsies... I have a BFA in metal design, not English. I know that I get carried away with symbols and thank goodness for spell check! Hope y'all understand where I'm coming from and that I really am smart-maybe just not with oxford commas and stuff...

My name is Amy Margaret Kapphan and Queen Anne Design is my jewelry biz. I currently reside in Bainbridge Island, WA. I have a cute lil cabin in the woods with my sweet boyfriend Casey, and our dog. (It's his dog when she's been bad!) I sell my jewels on etsy (queenannedesign.etsy.com), I sell at a local market (Kingston Saturday market), and I sell in a local shop that I also manage (Beads of Bainbridge). I love my jobs, my friends, and my family. I think it rains a lil too much here in the great PNW, but it sure is great a couple months out of the year... and well, green is my favorite color-I have it all winter long!!!

Lately I've been working a lot with wood, sea glass, and waxed linen.
I have always had love for suede and silk...
but those are affairs because my first love lies in metal.
I'm totally hooked on a new technique: Embossing!! Heard of it??
It's mostly used on paper and in crafts like scrapbooking, card making, and collage. Well, I'm using it on metal, wood, and glass! It's so fun and unlike anything I've ever done before! It's a sweet lil raised up image of whatever I want it to be! First I make my image in glue, sprinkle a lil magic embossing powder, apply heat, and waalaa!!! I always seal with a kiss, and lacquer. Check them out on my etsy site!

Thanks for checking in with me! Please subscribe to my blog!

And remember: I'm just getting started, so if something doesn't look quite up to date... It might not be, but probably will be soon!

I have a feeling I am going to really like this!

xoxo
